Spring Break!!!

SPRING BREAK!!!!!!

Could not have come fast enough! 

Mainly, I had volunteered all week at my daughter's school's book fair. 

Book fairs are brutal. Here in Texas, the charge tax. Surprise, surprise, not really but its so hard to remind little Kindergarteners that you need 1.07 if you want to get that .99 eraser. Trust me for your sanity you just start telling them you need, $0.54, $1.07, $2.15, $3.24, you get where I'm headed with this. 

My favorite is what can I get for.... and then they do not like the answer and will ask 4 or 5 times. Another favorite is the Mom comes in with their child's receipt and states, "My son bought two books but only came home with one!" So then, I had to ask was one of the books Minecraft? That's a pre-order as scholastic didn't send any of these out and no I do not know when they will be here. 

 I do have to say, I love volunteering at her library. I'm usually doing something different every day or every other day. Sometimes is shelving books, checking them in or out to students, or helping the Liberian with GT (Gifted and Talented). She has to test students twice a year to see if they qualify. You or your child's teacher can nominate your student. 

We are going to be traveling this Spring Break to Las Vegas!!! My sister-in-law moved there last summer and I have been begging my husband to go for years!!! Now, we can hit two birds with one trip!! Ha! 

Can't wait to update you with photos and all the fun things we will have done. Hope you are enjoying your spring break, that is if you are on spring break. Or thawing out as its 12 days until the first day of Spring.

Slacking

I have definitely been slacking on here. I could blame it on the fact that since Memorial day we have moved in with friends, went of vacation, were in a wedding, moved out of friends home and into our own home, unpacking, and then had a 3 year old computer mishap (resulting in computer in the shop), school started and sickness. I do not know if that covers everything but I am not lost.

We are in year 2 in El Paso, TX. I love this place. I know love is a strong word but I do. In one month we had gone to the Zoo at least once if not twice a week. Found out some interesting information. They got a male tiger so they could breed the two female tigers. They open a giraffe encounter, you can pay $2 to feed the giraffes. They have such interesting tongues and actually wrap them around the lettuce. The female orangutang Ibu turned 19 and the male Butch were out in their exhibit together. Under close monitor.

Abs started school in a new school district and I have to say so far it seems so much better than El Paso Independent School District. She has two teacher Ms. Rico and Mrs. Hernandez.  She also is doing the Breakfast Club, so she has to be at school at 7:00 am, which is kind of nice.

We bought a house. I know I haven't updated the weekly photos, but we love it. Bought a hanging pot rack. We also after 10 years have a bedroom set. Love it!!!

On to Patrick, we had a rough couple weeks with him. He took detangling hair spray and sprayed it all over my keyboard on the laptop. Took 3 weeks to get that fix, luckily they could just replace the keyboard on my MacBook Pro. Now, he is recovering from croup/laryngitis. He was admitted for an over night stay at William Beaumont. Patrick pick my hubby as the one to stay with him overnight and he didn't get any rest. Lets just say, he's recovering nicely and back to his mischievous self.

I should be updating more often now... Upcoming a 4th birthday party, grandparents visit, and life.

Excited and Not

At our last FRG meeting (family readiness group) we were told that a couple of the units in our BDE (brigade) have orders to come home. One unit was already in Kuwait. Which is exciting and happy for those units and their families. As I have a friend in one of those units, I am happy for them. Just wish it was my husband's unit. 

J.B. called me the other day and asked what would happen if he came home before Thanksgiving. I asked does he have a definite date. He replied back with no. I took a deep breath and said it would be great if you can be home before the 17th. That would be great, as if I can just ask for any date I want. Of course we have plans to go out of town and we are flying so it would be a bummer to lose that money and not go on our trip.  I feel bad for thinking that, my husband is way more important than any trip, but he did tell me that it would be ok. I flat out told him to shut up. We have always been here for good byes and homecomings, we are not about to miss one. It would be like jinxing us. So now we are in a waiting pattern. Now I regret wanting to be out of town for Thanksgiving. 

Upside is that he may not even be home by then or if he comes home while we are gone, then maybe he could surprise us at the airport when we come back. Wouldn't that just floor our children. It doesn't sit easy with us still planning on going on the trip. I miss my husband seriously bad. I know all wives do during a deployment but I don't want to miss our on homecoming. If he truly is home by then it will our shortest deployment yet and let me tell you he deserves a short one. I know I'm probably the only wife that wishes he would be home sometime after Thanksgiving.
